[ Jaw clenching, Rick walked the rest of the distance in frustrated silence. Unlocking the car, he waited for Negan to slid inside but barely gave him time to settle before he took off towards their first destination. ]
You try anythin' - [ He warned again, looking over at Negan with a hardened expression.
The silence bothered him before long and he popped in one of his cds to listen to. ]
[ Negan makes himself comfortable in the passenger seat, enjoying the silence when the music starts. All he can do is stare at Rick and judge him for his music tastes. ]
Really? This is really what we're going for? I thought you were a man of taste.
[ For the first time probably ever, Rick afforded Negan with a grin as he looked over. He also turned the music up just a little more, hand tapping against the steering wheel to the beat. ]
Come on now, don't tell me you don't appreciate good music. This mix here is a classic.
[ He looked over again for a moment. ] You a classic rock fan? Got the look.
[ Lucille give him strength. The back of his head hits the seat with an audible thump, and Negan rolls his eyes. He casts a look to Rick, intending to give him the stinkeye, but it all but disappears. Who would have thought that Rick Grimes was a vindictive driver? ]
I'm more of a Presley fan, but sure, I enjoy the classics.

[ It's hard to imagine what Rick was like before all this shit went down, having a normal life and being some suburban husband. Negan takes the opportunity to flip through the case, not much popping out at him. One happens to catch his eye and he whistles. Taking it out of its sleeve, he slides it into the player and cranks the volume. ]
[ Honestly, there were so many things they knew very little about when it came to one another. In a way, Rick preferred it because he didn't need to humanize or relate to Negan in any way. The music then happened to be a very dangerous and slippery slope.
As the new music filled the car, Rick couldn't help but to smile. Damn. ]
Not too bad of a choice. You got a voice to go with that selection? [ Rick could carry a tune pretty well but few knew of his musical side. The ones who did were long gone. ]
[ That's what this little excursion is about, isn't it? Humanizing one another? It's hard not to bond over something familiar and now nostalgic. Nobody will ever be able to do something as simple as go to a concert or enjoy a cold brew after mowing a lawn. Their world is so far removed from any of that, so it's hard not to go back to nostalgia a bit. ]
You askin' for a show, Rick? [ He casts a sidelong glance, grinning wolfishly, then he barks out a laugh, slapping his thigh in amusement. ]
[ There were moments, almost glimpses where Rick started to believe Negan could be more than what they all marked him as. A belief something more existed beneath what could only be referred to as murderous armor but the moments always passed. The glimpses tarnished to remind him what he first read happened to be true.
Some people lacked better or even decent sides. Some were the ones you needed to lock up or in their new world eliminate.
A life to preserve other lives. ]
